Have you ever thought it would be cool to have a two-way wrist telephone? If you remember Dick Tracy, you might have secretly wished for one just like his when you were growing up. And today you can have just that—you can make and receive phone calls on your wrist with a slick device called the i’m Watch. And it’s not even just a phone. You can also use it to listen to music and look at photos. Sound good? The list is just getting started. You can also use the i’m Watch to check your email, text messages, Facebook and Twitter updates, the weather, your calendar, or stock prices. And even better: it tells you what time it is, too. You can select a digital or analog-look face display.

A Watch with a Touch Screen—Not a Touch Screen with a Strap

Something that sets the i’m Watch apart from other wrist gadgets, such as the iPod Nano with a strap attached, is its curved 1.54” high-definition touch screen with 240×240 pixel resolution. The curvature allows the i’m Watch to truly shine as an elegant fashionable watch, and not just a mini tablet with a wrist strap. The i’m Watch has a loudspeaker and a microphone, to allow you to hold phone conversations directly on your wrist. (Can you do that on a Nano?) The base model has 64MB RAM, but pricier versions can have 128MB. All versions feature a 4GB flash drive, where you can store music, apps, and photos. Pricing currently starts at $329 for base models with aluminum cases and colorful silicon bands. Or you can go all the way up to $1999 for the “white gold and diamonds” style. In between you’ll find versions made of titanium, silver, and gold, all available in several colors.

Harnessing the Power of the i’m Watch

The i’m Watch tethers with your existing smart phone; all calls, emails, texts, and alerts begin there. Your i’m Watch then alerts you of the notifications coming in on your phone, and you can check these easily by simply glancing at your watch. If an important phone call comes in, you can take it right on your wrist. You’ll also know quickly when pressing text messages or emails arrive that require your immediate attention, and when the alerts are ones you can let slide for now. It’s all right there on your wrist. SMS notifications can actually come through Bluetooth, and some of the other functions of the i’m Watch such as the music player can work without a smart phone connected.

The i’m Watch features an Android 1.6 operating system. More apps are available for the i’m Watch through—you guessed it—the i’market. Music for your watch is available for download through—wait for it—i’music. You can plug in headphones or earbuds and listen to your favorite tunes right from your wrist.
